Download and review ForMini VCI Techstream cable for Lexus

I recently obtained a mini VCI cable and techstream software to perform some dealer ‘customizations’ that I’ve been wanting on my own car. I have a 2006 Lexus GS300 Cypress Pearl and another 2016 Lexus IS200t Ultrasonic Blue Mica 2.0.

MINI VCI Features:
1. Latest Version: V12.10.019
2. Support Toyota TIS OEM diagnostic software
3. Cost-effective, the price of product is only one-third of similar foreign products.
4. High performance with ARM CPU inside.
5. High reliability of products using SMD chip, and certified by CE and FCC.
6. Support all the diagnostic communication protocols needed for Toyota (since 1996).
7. Support K-Line ISO 9141/KWP 2000 ISO 14230-4/SAE J1850 PWM/SAE J1850 VPW/CAN 2.0B ISO 11898 /CAN ISO 15765-4

Normally, you get one session with the dealer for free when you buy the car new. I bought my car used and wasnt keen on paying a dealer to do this so I bought the tool myself.

I order mine from fobdii.com for about $20 bucks. Mine just came in. Firmware 1.4.1 running on win10 64bit.

This is the one I ordered,  http://www.fobdii.com/wholesale-498-mini-vci-single-cable-for-toyota.html . I only needed to turn off the DRLs.

Wowzer. I found some code stored for the ABS, low or high power supply voltage and a malfunctioning humidity sensor circuit. It showed me my transmission codes before they popped up as actual MILs. Included freeze frame data too.

Update – I’ve played with the cable a bit more. Looks like I have the ability to register new TPMS! I’ll have to wait until my new sensors come in.

It’ll do all the personalized settings and diagnostics but it won’t reprogram the ecu, create a new key or register new tpms sensors. I also obtained the latest techstream for my 64bit system. FYI: The cable comes with a mini Techstream software CD, but i don’t use the software, I find myseelf a good place to download v12.10.019 software together with mvci driver, registration key and manual etc.

Here’s the link:

https://drive.google.com/drive/folders/0B-3Zt8Mtu_YDN1VCQ2VNU2luS3M

It’s a diagnostic tool to help pin point the issue or customize certain settings. It pretty much a more advance OBDII code scanner but for Toyota\Lexus\Scion. Car Diagnostic Tool  You can clear the DTCs and see if you issues will come back. Not only can it do customizations, but it can do some in depth diagnostics and scans.

The greatest parts about Techstream is the code it reads from the stored memory even though it doesn’t throw a light on the dash. It also depend on the cable. The cheaper cable may not program a TPMS sensor, program a key, or factory reset the transmission behavior but it should read from all the computers.

Update – I was able to register new TPMS sensor even though the seller claims it does not register new sensors.

Definitely a worthy investment if you like doing work yourself and have a stable of Toyota cars.

How to used GM Tech2 scanner disable Corvette C5 F55

So here I would like to share my experience disabling F55 and reflashing DBS using GM Tech2 scan tool . I have a 2005 c5 F55 with heads, cam, injectors, etc. tuned with HP tuners. I did some search about having the DBS reflash and F55 disable done and I read in a couple blogs and threads that people are unsure whether the DBS reflash or any other BCM changes will affect custom ECU tunes. I had the tech do these two changes to the BCM and checked the car after each.

Tech 2 for GM is Professional GM Diagnostic Scan Tool. GM Tech2 scanner supports all GM systems from 1992 to 2011.Tech2 has powerful function which make it is first choose by most GM vehicles repairer.

Disclaimer: Please strictly follow the steps in case anything goes wrong. The F55 disabling and DBS reflashing are on your own risk.

First I had the tech do the DBS reflash for me in about 10 min. My tune was NOT affected and the car started and ran normally.

I then had him disable the F55 suspension. Again, my tune was NOT affected and the car started and ran normally.

It is also worth noting that HP Tuners can NOT make changes to the BCM.

If you are looking to disable your F55 using the TECH2 scanner :

1. Hook up Tech2 , turn car ON, make sure module in the rear is PLUGGED IN. Do Not unplug the rear module.
2. Go to diagnostics — Body — BCM — BCM Special functions — BCM Setup.
3. Delete the F45 option ( F55 did not appear on the menu screen on the Tech 2, use F45)

4. Save new configuration.
5. Do not turn car off, Car Diagnostic Tool do not remove Tech 2, go to the module in the rear of the car, unplug the grey connector( the widest one) leave the center plug in and the smaller black plug in.
6. Turn off car leave Tech 2 plugged in.
7. Remove remaining plugs from module in the rear of car.
8. Turn car on to verify the “Max speed 80 mph” is gone.
9. Unplug Tech 2 and put tools away.

Then you have to follow the bouncing ball of checking off RPO Codes. When you get to F55 set it to disabled.

Received package at 12-19-2017
Well I finally got the tech2,i had to file a dispute through PayPal though. They sent me several emails on the status but one asked for my phone number for shipping, only problem was it was a no reply email and there was no way of sending the number through their website, so I started a dispute. Within hours I got a normal email from them and sent the phone number. The tech2 arrived 2 days later. it looks and feels exactly like the gm one, and I have been using these things since they changed from the tech1 to the tech2,i have years of experience with it and it works exactly like any others I’ve used at gm dealers over the years.im happy with it, even though the shipping was a lot, it’s still a great deal.462.00 for a brand new tech2 with a candi module all the cables and adapters and case is great.
GM  TECH2 Scanner Using Experience:
So far I only connected to my intimidator ss and everything was there, haven’t used it on the corvettes yet, but I would imagine it should be able to set up a BCM. i would like to change one of my c5s that is canadien to US to disable the auto headlights because they don’t always open when they should and when they do work right they come on too early.

it will do the relearn, I’ve used it some more since my last post and it does everything a real tech2 does, and I’ve been using the real one professionally since its inception. Mine came with the 32 mb card. you have to specify GM English when you order the unit. There are a lot of other cards for different languages Saab, Holden, etc

How to used GM Tech2 adding Corvette RPO option codes

This details out what exactly is needed to add/change RPO option codes to existing 97+ Corvettes using GM Tech2 scan tool. This scanner can be purchased from here for around $300. This is helpful on 2001+ ZO6s to add the T82 Automatic Headlamp operation at night feature as well as adding the tire pressure monitoring function. Both of which are built into the ZO6s Body Control Module (BCM) and just need to be “turned on” in order to work. The Automatic headlamp function usually requires no parts to be purchased but the tire pressure monitoring system needs to have sensors installed on all 4 tires. These can be found in the classified section of corvetteforum.com usually for around $200.00. These instructions will also help owners of F45 real time dampening suspension option convert to regular shocks that do not have sensors built in. Right now people are paying upwards of $200.00 for emulators that plug into the wiring harness to trick the BCM. A simple solution is to just go into the BCM function and toggle off the F45 suspension options. No codes will be set and the car will not go into reduced engine power mode.
